Validus Mission

Validus’ core mission is to support the managers who make the hotel industry. We all know the industry has changed. Hotels have largely focused on surviving while maximizing profit. Poor staffing choices. High turnover. Low accountability. Validus is bringing focus to the backbone of the industry: the managers. If hotels don’t support and take care of their employees, everything else will be a struggle. Scores, profitability, morale.

How do we achieve this as a recruitment company? Led by a 21 year industry veteran, Validus only seeks to represent those who believe the same. You’ll have an advocate that knows the industry inside and out, and understands your value within it. Working with Validus, hotels know they’re getting an experienced manager who will bring the spirit of hospitality to their hotel.

Validus Inspiration

Hospitality has upwards of an 80% turnover rate at the staff level. Managers are expected to fill in while hotels take months to re-hire, saving money the longer they wait. In the meantime managers work longer shifts. Double shifts. No days off. Then you get a call at 11pm that the auditor didn’t show up. Texts on your days off. Calls while you’re on vacation. The expectation has become “This is your life now, 24/7”. Also, don’t make any mistakes.

Many have decided it’s not worth it. The pipeline of associates looking to move into supervisory, and then managerial roles, is depleting. They see the stress of their managers and say “no thanks”. Hotels spend months searching for managerial unicorns willing to work 24/7 for $60k/year because they no longer exist.

Many blame the fallout from Covid-19, but it goes deeper than that. Hospitality has been largely turned over to disassociated owners and investors. It’s this top down philosophy, or lack of one, that trickles down to the GM’s and below. They see no ROI in promoting associate culture, or nobody has time for one, so the culture becomes: Excel at all times, be happy with a 2.85% raise, and don’t make mistakes.

Validus was formed out of the love of what hospitality must return to: the culture of employee appreciation and building rock solid teams who are energized to take care of the guests and fellow employees.

This is an industry worth fighting for. Are you in?
